Wee Kiang holds a concurrent appointment as a Programme Manager for Unmanned Systems in DSTA Land Systems Programme Centre. He is responsible for the acquisition and development of ground unmanned systems and it's enabling technologies for the SAF. He joined DSTA (formerly known as Defence Materiel Organisation) in 1998 as a project engineer and had, from onset worked on unmanned ground systems related acquisition and R&D projects. Over the years, he had accumulated in-depth experience and expertise in delivering this emerging capability to the SAF. Most notably in 2008, he was instrumental in the successful transition of one of the R&D project outcomes, to deliver and equip the first locally developed chemical, biological, radiation and explosive (CBRE) robotic suite to the SAF.
Wee Kiang graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) in 1998. In 2003, he was awarded a DSTA postgraduate scholarship and attained a double Masters of Science (Defence Technology and Combat Systems) from NUS and US Naval Postgraduate School under a joint postgraduate programme offered by the Temasek Defence Systems Institute.
